Igor Gosev, MD, PhD
Dr. Igor Gosev is the surgical lead of the Heart Transplant and LVAD program at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He is an accomplished cardiothoracic transplant surgeon and is regarded as a leading expert in the field. He completed cardiac surgery fellowship in 2011 and an advanced cardiac surgery fellowship in 2012 at the esteemed Brigham and Women’s hospital. His skill and knowledge led to his appointment as the Surgical Director of the Heart Transplant/MCS program at the University of Rochester. Under his leadership and the development of transformative quality initiatives, the Rochester advanced heart failure surgical program grew and matured and demonstrated admirable outcomes. In. 2024, he transitioned to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Nationally and internationally, Dr. Gosev has helped advance the field through his research in alternative, less invasive surgical approaches for advanced heart failure surgeries. In 2023, he served as an author on the STS-Intermacs annual report, focusing on the impact of the 2018 heart transplant allocation system on MCS implants in the U.S.
