Jennifer Cowger, MD, MS, FACC
Dr. Jennifer Cowger leads the Advanced Heart Failure program at Henry Ford Health. Her team offers life-saving therapies including heart transplant and left ventricular assist device support for management of end-stage heart failure and cardiogenic shock. She is also an active member of the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, amyloid and sarcoid programs. Outside of work, Dr. Cowger is engaged with various medical societies, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), where she serves as an Associate Editor for Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Heart Failure and is on the Michigan ACC Board. She served as a deputy editor for the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation until 2023, was a board member of International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, and is presently on the Society of Thoracic Surgeons Intermacs registry leadership team. In 2022, she was elected to serve on the OPTN heart transplant committee. She has participated in and/or led the development of key documents, including various guidelines, scientific statements and consensus documents, with over 200 scientific publications to date. She is presently serving on the national leadership team of two multicenter LVAD trials (TEAM-HF and INNOVATE) and serves as consultant for several novel mechanical support and cardiorenal devices in development.
